Journal 40: Whitman and Dickinson

The idea that Whitman and Dickenson are trying to express are controversial. Whitman wanted to tell the world that his writings and ideas are of everywhere. He is like the representation of the average human being walking in the street. If you look under their shoe soles, its dirt, and dirt is like, everywhere so there you go. Whitman is saying that his ideas are something that is in your everyday life. It is not saying something glorious or pretty, its the stuff that we see everyday, but failed to describe it.
Dickenson expresses the opposite ideas. She's quite gloomy in her writing and so is the quote. She's trying to say that her writing is a message to the world. It's trying to either teach the world a lesson, or trying to express on a specific thought. While the idea is being presented, the world listens in silence. They do not respond to the writings of Dickenson (pretty much because she didnt publish it out, no duh) Her words are not something expressed in everyday life and we see sround us. Its something personal that she wanted to tell the people.
My message, that if im to write a poem right now might be freedom. i don't have much of a personal declaration to make with words, since im not a writer. My ideas will be expressing the freedom of speech. The decensoring of things. Why? because this is who i am. My personal statement is something of freedom and that i will express whatever i want to say and believe without fear.
